bzpower.com/galimage.php?galimage=/Imaging/stories/8989_matanui_11.jpgAs seen on BZPower's review, look at the upper arm, the socket holes are going the opposite direction on the arm, and one of them is a plus hole. If only we had these for the first batch of glatorian, the armor being on the front with those was horribkly annoying in my opinion. I wonder if the LEGo designers relized the annoyance themselves or got a bunch of complaints about it in the feedback..or if they just wanted to put out a new socket type?

Looks pretty useful tbh, otherwise if you wanted a connection that way you had to use some otherwise uncommon parts and it looked bulkier anyway

So far they come in black (on Perditus, Thornatus's pilot), yellow-orange (on Mata Nui), light blue (on Kiina), and dark green (on Vastus). It looks like it'll be a useful piece.
I personally liked the Glatorian with the armor on the front of the arms-- Malum looks delightfully bulky, as does Strakk, and I haven't yet seen one decent modification that moves the armor to the side-- any MOCs with it on the side essentially destroy both the look and the practicality of the armor. It always disappoints me when people are too concerned with their preconceived notion of armor/weapons to appreciate a different style.

Its not a matter of any preconceptions and being unwilling to accept change, its a matter of me not liking the front mounted armor on some sets. Strakks I dislike, Malums I like a good bit better than Strakk, and it does play better into malum from the front than the side, but theres still the bare section from behind that I dont like.

Strakk's isn't all that bad, really. You're right that from side view it isn't as good as Malum's. But unless the part design was RADICALLY different, it would look hideous in any side-mounted style. Malum's never bothers me from the back, for some reason. When I got the set I expected it to be a bit of a disappointment, but it turned out to be OK. So I dunno; I guess it's subjective.
