Just something that I thought would be an interesting topic.
Basically, if Gordon Freeman and The Master Chief were to fight each other, who would win, in your opinion?
Let's take a look at their advantages and disadvantages:
Gordon Freeman:
Advantages:
>Ph.D in theoretical physics (and Crowbars)
>Can carry, and possesses many weapons, most of which are fairly accurate
>MK5 HEV suit, which has high-strength powered armor
>Sprint feature and (recently) rechargeable flashlight
>Is a scientist, and as such, has a fairly good understanding of the scientific method
>Has a crowbar
>HEV suit is rather resilient, especially with armor fully charged, and can resist high-impact stuff, as well as explosions
>Could easily add 26'th century weaponry to his arsenal, without exchanging his more modern weapons, as well as have a good grasp of their function.
>Has taken on wider arrange of enemies than Master Chief
>Possesses Gravity Gun
>Has become very experienced with combat, without training.
>HEV suit is capable of keeping a user near death still fully operational, and can administer antidotes for toxins, as well as morphine
Disadvantages:
>Health and Armor cannot regenerate without external help.
>HEV suit may not be as effective against more advanced weaponry
>Does not have 26'th century weapons
>HEV suit can be annoying with it's constant "WARNING: VITAL SIGNS CRITICAL" gibberish.
>Was not trained for combat, and relies solely on experience.
>Hardly gets any rest, though the HEV suit seems to compensate for this, somehow.
Master Chief:
Advantages:
>Highly trained for military actions since childhood
>Very resistant to pain, and is hardly affected by it
>Recharging shields, and health, and flashlight with a battery that does not need to recharge
>Onboard AI most of the time
>Can use powerups
>Can upright capsize vehicles
>Can "mele" enemies, and throw grenades more quickly
>Comes into contact with rather powerful weaponry at times
>Has more experience with enemies with similar, if not identical strengths and weaknesses
>Can store more ammo
>Most likely has a good grasp of modern weaponry
>Is a cyborg, and has extremely good senses, as well as being extremely strong
Disadvantages:
>Is more likely to die in campaign levels
>Can only carry two weapons at once
>Often gets stuck with SMG, which is a lame weapon
>Has very inaccurate weaponry in contrast with Gordon Freeman's, or at least is less accurate with it
>Does not have sprint feature
>Can carry less extra stuff than Gordon
-------
Now, before we get started- I know many of you are very devote fans of either game, and some almost look up to one or the other, but keep in mind that they are merely fictional characters, and should not be spoken of and debated as if they actually were real. This is an unserious topic, and I would like you to know that this should not be treated otherwise. Don't be rude to others if they disagree with you, just take it like it wasn't personal, and don't be defensive in a serious manner, and everything should be alright. I don't want an argument starting over fictional characters, as it causes uproars and division. Please be kind, and understand that this is discussion, not heated debate.
Thank you for your understanding.
