i'll bet he painted it, or got it as a misprint or fake. The sets do look good, better than the ones lego designs.

i'll bet he painted it, or got it as a misprint or fake. The sets do look good, better than the ones lego designs. The Matatu and the Komau are both painted, everything else real. The only adjustments I made to the photos was to extend the exposure time to whiten the background more. I was unable to adjust this photo of Kopaka, since he's a white Toa on a white background. Thanks for the kind words Nate. so... not to point out the obvious and sound like a noob, but... TOA AHI IS YOUR AVATAR!!! For now, I just love how that mask looks in red, which reminds me, I need to buy another can of the red paint for some more masks.

Just about any paint remover will do, but test it first to make sure it doesn't damage the plastic.

do they sell "spraypaint-remover"? If you douse a painted object in lighter fluid and then gently warm it with a match it peels right off

Of the latest four, I like Makani the best. Overall, I appreciate the "less is more" approach. The light box effect is nicely done.

I like to keep them less complicated. Right now though, I'm working on making custom Kanohi. I started with modifying existing masks... Custom Volitak that I cut the breather off. Custom Pakari that I added spikes to. ...but my latest is a hand made Kanohi made from scratch, inspired by a sketch I found on Brickshelf by bonesiii. It's still in a rough form, but is generally the shape I want. It fits nicely on a metru head, and the eyes are lined up so the Toa can see. Over the next week or so I'll be finishing it with more detail. I'll post more pics when I'm done.

Ruined what? The Pakari, the Volitak, or the new mask? If you mean the new one, it's not finished yet, just a rough shape.

It was made of epoxy putty (aka Mighty Putty). It hardens in 20 minutes and can be carved, sanded or drilled.
