Bionicle had a good idea of transformations in the beggining but now it's just plain stupid. Ewww, adapting armor! Ahhh, mutagen! Get a better idea already... what do you guys think?

Well, adapting armor from a demi-god can't be any more silly than getting hit by lightning inside a canister or sticking rocks into a boulder because some gold-faced loony told you to, now can it?
Since you seem so unhappy with Mr. Farshtey's writing in this area however, I will pop that inevitable question: What's your idea?
I do try to keep up with the novels for the sake of any MOC bios/backgrounds I may write, but I generally don't try to review the things as though I'm expecting them to be War & Peace. He can go into a lot of depth/detail with these, but as the novels are aimed at a lower age-group, he can't really go into as much detail on class level transformations as say...Michael Crichton went into on dinosaur cloning and chaos theories.

Yeah, remember, the books are for like, ten year olds, not seventeen year olds (that's my age btw).
If Bionicle was for older kids, then yeah, mutagen and Adaptive Armor would be much more advanced. But it's not.

A better idea that would still be good for kids would be like... something unknown about protodermis and how it effects things. Instead of just getting addapting armor, the toa will be told to bath in Mutagin in a certain location to get a different addapted armor like the best addaptation on Mata Nui would be what the nuva got. Mabee protodermis filled with mutagin filled the inika containers giving them their new powers. If the protodermis thing had a secret twist in the end like Makuta and the antidermis virus, the storyline would be better and the product would sell better.

For me, it kinda depends. Depending on whether or not the transformation is as good as the original (Metru-Hordika), better than the original (Mata-Nuva), or a total disgrace (Nuva-Mistaka).

I like the transformations. My justification for such is simple: The Hordika have been our only transformation to make things more cloned in appearance. The Mahri gave us individual figures suited (in my opinion, anyway) to the personalities of the characters. The Phantoka/Mistika didn't change much in their level of cloniness, and if they did they are less cloned in appearance than they were before. So from a set angle, I do like transformations as a way of seeing new and usually superior interpretations of the same characters.
From a story angle, I really don't care, but I voted that I like the transformations since my preferences lean in that direction.
EDIT: And House's suggestion is totally off-the-wall and the sort of thing that would make me sincerely doubt Greg's capacity as a writer. Making a big deal in story over a physical change is something I think should never be done unless the agent of change also affects personalities, as was the case with the Hordika.
