Time for another MoC, my selfmoc to be exact. This time Brogen has come to us as a toa of Light. This isn’t my best moc ever, and was originally built as a rebuild of one of the toa from my epic, who has not yet been revealed, but halfway through the build I realized how similar it was looking to my self character, and by means of mask switch it became Brogen, and was built as Brogen from that moment onward. I didn’t include fingers on the hands, or full waist articulation, or even custom feet, but this was really more of a fun moc than a serious one. What’s surprising is that the sword is the oldest thing on this moc, having been around since last summer. Anyway, I’ll post some more pictures for you. Pose with his sword Front with the wings spread out Front Side Alternate Mask Alternate Mask Story: Brogen is not your average toa of light. He tends to not work with light as his elementary primary, but more like the absence of light, he will remove all the light from the room, or even just around his enemy’s eyes to make it harder for them to fight. With the use of his mask of true sight he can be sure to never be caught unawares by an illusion, or an altered persona. He can see exactly who the person is with the mask, and exactly what is there. He carries a great sword and his bloodstained wings are a reminder for him of many past battles, and being the highly religious toa he is he typically goes out into the world in an attempt to destroy any possible hazards to the matoran, and thus Mata Nui. Posed Pictures: “Hold” “I pledge my loyalty” Barraki Attack “I call upon my sword of light” And it appears “For MATA NUI!” Attacking Takadox Into his skull “Death is the only way to destroy their threat” Victory More Pictures: Flying Still Flying Flying as seen from below With the Toa Zengle, wearing a Zengle Gallery Well, thanks for looking, comments appreciated, but please refrain from number ratings unless in the context of a full review. ~Brogen

Oddly enough for this, I'd consider using Kopaka's phantoka feet. They seem big enough for this guy and might give him better proportions with regards to his current "legs narrow to tiny feet" condition.
Also..it may be photo perspective, but the torso feels oddly long for the guy.
My only other "complaint" is the Pridak fins as wings. The red-pink splash just doesn't work for this one.
I must say, I do like the "eyescope" thing on the mask. Takanuva gold mixed with Brutaka gold actually sorta works here. I've personally tried to avoid it because I've been iffy on how it would look. Clashes a bit here, but I'm not on the ground retching, so that's a plus ^_^
If I may make a suggestion hand-wise, when I don't feel like going into detail of some sort, I personally use the old throwbot feet, curved/slanted parts facing out away from the wrist. It does give the apearance of grasping fingers.

OK seriously. I like the overall design of it, but w/e happened to your famous custom hands?
I'll agree with Xaedrahk on the wings. They don't flow well with the rest of the color scheme. Like, at all.
Other than that, it's not too bad, but it could use a little touching up on the proportions and what-not.

I like it! The only problem might be the proportions. The arms, for example are too short for him. If I'm correct, when hanging down, his elbows should be straight with where his bell button would be. Also, the legs should be slightly longer than the torso without the head( I draw a lot, so I need to know proportions). Other than that, it's really good and it fits in with the theme. However, like the others said, the wings don't really fit with the color scheme.

Okay, time to reply. Yamamura: I wanted gold feet, particulary the old gold colored feet, and since there are no elements of that color small enough to make custom feet with I didn't. The photo does distort the proportions. Odd, I used the pridak pieces mostly because of the red on it. I thought it looked pretty cool. I have made hands before, as Veno pointed out, but I felt I had over used my hand design, so I'm currently inbetween designs, I intend to start using more fusion so my hands will probably be made of system pieces later on.
Veno: As I said above, I wanted to make a new hand design, and didn't feel like doing it on this moc, and I like the wings.
Slymaster15: The problem with doing that is the torso would have to be much shorter, and then the legs would be too long, as it is the arms hang down to about the mid point on the thighs where human arms typically hand. And the legs are slightly longer than the torso, I just checked before writing this response, if anything they're too long. And as I've said before, I like the red on the wings.

The absence of light is an element in itself, it's called shadow ><

No, that would be darkness. Shadows can't exist without light, darkness can.

Foot-wise, you could go with something similar to Krekka's design. I wouldn't make 'em that large, but I'm referring to how Krekka's feet used the Metru leg armor on the top. Working a slimmer model could get you the right sized feet, and you'd be able to put some gold parts in there. I see shoulder armor and feet from either Lhikan or Iruini. I know you have the parts I'm talking about. If not that, then you could at least build a sort of "lower half of the foot" in white or black underneath it to give him a slight height boost/multi-color scheme in that area.

That's possibly the most vague criticism ever.
Edit: also epic shoulders Brogen
