On the isle of Norn Nui, there is a small group of Matoran and a rather larger group of hungry Rahi ready to consume them. And of course, wherever there are Matoran in danger, there are Toa to defend them.
But the Toa team of Norn Nui is far from standard fare...
Firstly, there is T.R.O.T., short for "The Really Old Toa." He's so old, he's senile. He can't even remember his own name. But mistake him for a turaga at your peril: In a job with a high lethality rate, he's survived long enough to be doubled over with age. His Hau Nuva makes many wonder if he is, in fact, Tahu, but nobody can decipher his ramblings enough to find if this is the case. He is, however, a master of fire...
Then there is Fikouva, Toa of gravity. Yes, he explains, he is a toa. It's just that in the Norn Nynrah battle, he was midway between morphing from a Rorzakh to his natural form when a malicious Makuta used molecular disruption to fuse his Mahiki to his face, rendering it unusable. Now forever blind, Fikouva has learned to let his other senses do the work for him. He is a kindly fellow, but his half-vahki voicebox gives him snakelike speech...
Konix, in the aforementioned battle, was subject to a large explosion which ripped off his legs and shredded half his body. Fortunately for him, the Nynrah ghosts were nearby his landing spot and carted him off to an emergency surgery. Now this Toa of plantlife is nearly unrecognizable as his former self, brooding over the deaths of his comrades and sadly incapable of using Kanohi. His cybernetic enhancements make him faster, stronger, better in combat then his peers, but even more frightening is that deathly look in his eye...
Manika was also a victim of the Norn Nynrah battle, as an experimental kanohi Jutlin was used to rapidly dissolve his armor. He was only saved by the timely arrival of Monolith, but was in desperate need of medical attention at this point. The Nynrah ghosts gathered the now mostly organic creature and placed inside a modified Exo-toa, sacrificing the power and armor for a more elemental feel. The Toa of Sonics now carries his original vibraxe and the felled Makuta's dagger, but can focus his element just as easily throughout his mechanical shell. He now has a gung-ho attitude, loving combat and generally acting tough, though his loss of Kanohi-related abilities at the hands of a Kanohi has hit him harder then it seems...
Luvata, toa of magnetism, has an inferiority complex. What is she doing, she wonders, amongst all these battle-hardened veterans? In a subconscious attempt to compensate, she has used her power to alter her appearance into something impressive with claws. She also has the head of her first kill, a rogue Bordakh, as her primary toa tool. Still, beneath her mask of possibilities, there is still that fear that when the time comes, she will not be able to hold her ground. For her, it is a very well-founded fear...
Potandaik, on the other hand, is thrilled to be a toa. A member of the Nuva Fan Club as a matoran, Potandaik idolized a certain toa of stone to the point where he requested a kanohi Kakama and feet additions when he became a toa. He has decided against hand-held tools in the style of his idol, and maintains the light-hearted attitude he believes his favorite toa had in life. His only regret is that he is a toa of Iron, not of stone...
On one side were at least five Makuta in a fortress, an army of Rahkshi and rogue Vahki, unknown experimental vreatures, and a landscape filled with hostile Rahi. On the other side were around twenty toa, the Nynrah ghosts, a few other matoran, and an intoxicated Waikiru and Ussal Crab.
Needless to say, the odds were rather against the good guys.
So, the toa agreed to each make a toa stone and hand it to a separate matoran before the battle. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a jumble with communication, and one Ko-matoran got stones from three toa.
For some reason, these three toa all died in the same explosion, triggering an effect hitherto unseen in the Ko-matoran. Growing to massive proportions, he took his former farming tool--which was now massive, and headed into the fray, singlehandedly dispatching one of the Makuta from behind. His arrival, along with his powerful blasts of cold and massive striking swathes through the army of rahkshi, signaled a turning point in the battle.
After the successful campaign, it was agreed that a naming day should be held for the new Toa of Ice. Very quietly, he uttered one word: "Monolith."
Now he serves as protecter of Norn Nui, mentally scarred by the devastation he wrough in his first moments as a toa. Due to his unusual head shape, his Kanohi Sanok had to be given a helmet-like shape, though he added scopes on his own. The quietest of the toa, it is apparent his heart is not in his duty at all. Nonetheless, he is willing to dispatch any foes of the matoran at a moment's notice...
These Toa all now protect the Matoran of Norn Nui. What their destiny holds, none can say... but Karzahni it's going to be interesting!
